It's Time for Outdoor Camping at the Dunes!

outdoor camping

Yes, it time for the Dunes Season to begin! Every Halloween weekend there are big festivities held at the Dunes to initiate the Season. Outdoor camping at the Dunes is best from October through April. Once the weather warms up again, forget it. Desert camping is one thing but hanging out in the Dunes in warm weather is another. No way, Jose!

So this weekend outdoor camping... Read More

Fishing and Outdoor Camping with the Kids

outdoor camping

There is no better way to spend quality time with your kids than to go outdoor camping. My family has done this activity since the kids were babies. My youngest son spent many of his earliest weekends in a baby carrier rocking atop a picnic table. I would cover him with a light weight mosquito net and gave him a bottle. He was content as could be!

With outdoor camping the... Read More

Outdoor Camping is a Great Get Away

outdoor camping, camping stove

Are you looking for a relaxing get away that allows you take in the great oudoors? I especially like to go outdoor camping. I pack up only the basics; a tent, camping stove, cooler full of food, a sleeping bag and some good hiking boots. You really don't need a lot of equipment to enjoy outdoor camping.

After I have packed up the basics, I grab the dog and intentionally... Read More

Resort camping sounds fantastic

resort camping, outdoor living

My aunt and uncle do a lot of resort camping. Their kids have all left the nest and aren’t waiting until they retire to enjoy the RV they bought last year. Their RV isn’t new, but it has everything you would ever need in outdoor living. Their last resort camping trip was to Munds Park in Northern Arizona.Munds Park is just south of Flagstaff. My aunt and uncle couldn’t... Read More

Nice Grill for Making Breakfast on Camping Stove

camping stove, outdoor camping I found this fantastic grill for our camping stove. We eat breakfast first thing in the morning, and fire up the camping stove right after we get up. I cook potatoes for the breakfast the next morning and we fry them up along with bacon or ham slices. We bring along our solar oven for daytime cooking, but having a hot breakfast first thing helps us have enough energy for... Read More

Winter Outdoor Camping Our Latest Challenge

outdoor camping, camping stoveMy sister and I are talking about going outdoor camping together this winter. We usually follow through when we discuss our outdoor camping trips, so I decided I'd get a head start on the trip by going online to get a sleeping bag worthy of the cold temperatures we will encounter when we go outdoor camping in the winter. I found this sleeping bag (the Black Pine Sports -25... Read More

Learning to Make Apple Pie in a Camping Stove

camping stove, outdoor campingSaturday I popped into a bookstore to see if there were any cookbooks that specialized in recipes to make on a camping stove. I ordered a cast iron pie pan a few days ago and was looking for tips on how to make apple pie using a camping stove. We love to go camping and the thought of fresh, homemade apple pie when we're outdoor camping was too much to resist, so I ordered... Read More

Resort Camping Is The Good Life

resort camping Resort Camping

Five years ago I got my first taste of resort camping. The resort was an amazing place in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Since that first time of resort camping, I have given up my tent, the hard ground, and mosquitoes for indoor swimming pools, incredibly comfortable camps, and even a cool bathrobe. I don't know why they gave out bathrobes, but I... Read More

Resort Camping Brings New Amenities to the Table

resort camping, outdoor living

Whenever we go camping, we usually go outdoor camping at local lakes. However, recently, we tried some resort camping, and we were pleased with the additional amenities the campsite offered. Not only were there superior bath areas; but, there were washing machines, dryers, a store, restaurant, rental area for equipment for hiking, etc. In other words, the outdoor living... Read More

I Replaced Our Old and Leaky Outdoor Camping Tent

outdoor camping

At the end of camping season I realized I would have to replace a couple of our families outdoor camping tents before we went camping again. We camp a lot and several of the tents were very old and worn. I am pretty sure I used at least one of them when I was a kid. A couple had started leaking, including the one I use. One the zippers was completely gone, not sure how... Read More

Outdoor living helps us rejuvenate ourselves

resort camping, outdoor living

I have some friends who are retired and love to go resort camping. They own a beautiful motorhome and love the outdoor living from one location to the next. They escape the sweltering Arizona heat in the summer and go resort camping up in Northern Arizona or head up north to cooler temperatures in Oregon and Washington state. I can see the allure of escaping to wherever... Read More

Proud Papa and His Outdoor Camping Cookware

outdoor camping

My Papa is an avid camper and when he goes outdoor camping he loves to cook over an open fire. I must say that his fried potatoes taste ten times better cooked over an open fire than they do cooked on our stove at home. This year for his birthday we decided to take him outdoor camping. We also bought outdoor camping cookware to take along for his birthday present. We... Read More

Outdoor Camping with The Dogs

outdoor camping, camping stove Outdoor Camping

I love outdoor camping. Everytime I get a chance, I put my four dogs, yes folks that's four dogs, in my car and head out to the National Forest to do some outdoor camping. My dogs are great and take to outdoor camping, like fish to water. They enjoy hiking with me, exploring and setting up camp. They even sleep in the tent with me. And it's always so much... Read More

Resort Camping made Easy with Online Products

resort camping, outdoor living Whatever happened to really roughing it. Going out into the middle of nowhere with a knife, lighter and sleeping bag. All the rest just had to be improvised. Actually what I just said is over the top but it is crazy how many outdoor living supplies are online now a days. Traditional items like a camping stove are always a great buy but there also things that make the... Read More

Outdoor Living Calls to Our Ancestors

outdoor camping, outdoor living The appeal of outdoor camping goes back to our primeval ancestors who knew nothing better than living off the land. Recreating a 21st century take on what our ancestors had to do day in day out with camping stoves, tents and sleeping bags really brings out the true colors of people. I totally believe that people act differently when the modern conveniences of home are shoed... Read More
