camping stove

Each time I go camping, I make it a point to focus on my camping stove. I don't really have a camping stove, but rather a cooking area. However, it does look much like a regular stove you would see in a home. I love cooking outside, so my camping stove gets a lot of my attention.

I start building my camping stove even before I get my tent together. This is so I can have a fire going, which produces embers for cooking, while I am getting the rest of my campsite together. I start by collecting as many rocks as I can find. If I am staying by a river, this is easy as there is a lot of rocks that make great camping stoves there. I pile them up in a 'U' shape until it is about 2 feet high. In the middle I put a rack the goes across the entire camping stove which is about 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. On the top I will place a flat griddle for placing pots or just the food itself.

My husband loves it when we go camping. He knows that I will do all of the cooking while we are gone. I love to experiment with different foods while we are gone and they usually come out pretty good. Breakfast is my favorite meal to cook on the camping stove. I don't know if it is because I'm starved from not eating all night, or the fresh coffee, but the food is simply divine.

To get ready for our next trip I had to replace the iron skillet for my camping stove. I went online to my favorite outdoor shopping site; Bridge's Outdoor World. This shopping site which can be found by visiting their online store at www.bridgesoutdoorworld.com, is where I have been buying my camping equipment from for the last several months. In fact, I completely outfitted my son's new backpack from Bridge's Outdoor World.

Anyway, I knew that they have great prices so I instantly ordered the Camp Chef Lewis & Clark 4'' Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet. It was a little smaller than my other one, but a small ledge on the top of the camping stove would fix that. Once the new skillet arrived, I experimented with some new camping stove set ups that I could use in the woods. The skillet worked great and we ate supper on it that first night. Now, I can't wait to get into the woods to get a chance to cook some fresh trout on it!
