outdoor camping, resort campingThis is the season of outdoor living. Until winter cools things down again the weather in Southern California is going to keep outdoorsmen very happy. I was surprised and at the same time jealous to hear a story from my friend who had woken up at the crack of dawn, driven 35 miles outside of the city to a large lake to go fishing. It has been some time since I cast a line but I see such an experience in my near future especially since my buddy is pumped to get out there again in the coming weeks after the lake is stocked with big bass.

Apart from fishing, outdoor camping has been on my mind. A group of friends in my area and living out of state are trying to put together a trip down the road where we can all converge on a set piece of Mother Nature for a weekend under the stars out in the wilderness. One of us suggested we instead pool our money together and go resort camping. I’ve had enough awesome experiences in cabins and wood lodges to know how fun resort camping is. That isn’t the point of this trip though.

A person couldn’t build a bon fire ten feet tall, shoot a gun and run around wild through the woods while resort camping, at least not at any of the places I’ve ever been. Leaving that supervision of others for the great expanse of wilderness with a group of long time friends is what outdoor camping is all about. People really show their true colors out in the middle of nowhere. I have been looking around Bridge’s Outdoor World at http://bridgesoutdoorworld.com/ for a new multi-function knife for this upcoming outdoor camping trip. A person can only benefit from something like the SwissChamp, Black, 91m while outdoor living. It is a tool that could pop the cork on a wine bottle, open a can of beans, cut limbs for kindling, create fire on a sunny day with the magnifying glass and file down nails all in one quick swoop.

Having the right outdoor camping tools when adventuring through the woods or desert makes all the difference in the world. I’ve always wanted to see how long I could go with nothing more then what survivalist on TV come into the woods with but then again having all the solutions in the bed of a truck next to a campsite is the answer to pure relaxation outside the city lights.
